Mate is a live social media prototype, embodying the best of location based, social media sharing. Mate is all about fun, learning and play. Blurring the boundaries of online and face to face socializing, Mate fosters face-to-face interaction while encouraging exploration of the beautiful city of Savannah.

The design of Mate was an exemplary collaborative effort: 6 students and 1 faculty member from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) worked with scientists from Yahoo!'s Internet Experiences Group and researchers from Arizona State University's Arts Media and Engineering Program. The design process pared 6 initial storyboard concepts down to one. See the video for more on our design process.
